As we connect with more people in different areas of life we take on responsibilities and commitments. These will start small when people ask you if you can come to an event at a certain date or do them a little favor. It will seem so easy in the moment to say yes but often when we leave that space our agreements completely slip our minds. We end up forgetting about events we promised to be at and don’t complete requests that we agreed to do. The reason for this is the pressure of our lives and responsibilities overwhelm us and although we had good intentions we end up letting people down.
The Four of Spades reminds you to
be careful to keep your word.
You will find that when you take your word more seriously that you will commit to less in the moment. Instead of instantly saying yes because you want to, you can explain that you would like to and that it is important that you check your schedule or see if it is possible before you confirm. Openly write a note about it so that you do not forget and check when you get home if you can commit to what you were asked. Once you have checked then you can schedule it so you can’t forget it and confirm with the other party.
Simple solutions resolve conflict further down the line so always be aware of what you are promising and make sure you can deliver. It is always better to be realistic and deliver than to overpromise and underdeliver. Word will spread that you are true to your word and everyone is looking for people that they can trust in this hard life. Keep your word no matter the price. If you cannot keep your word due to circumstances beyond your control then you must work hard to explain why and make up for it.
