No matter how far ahead we think we see there are always details that we miss. The more energy, time, resources and effort we put into our plans the more we will feel like doubling down when things go wrong. Persistence is noble and will take you very far with plans and in life but there are dangers to just powering ahead. The danger comes when the odds of your success become lower and lower until it seems impossible that you will be successful. The Eight of Spades gives us a solution to these moments by preparing us for when things go wrong.
Always make a back-up plan!

No matter how reliable a piece of equipment or person is and no matter how many times things have gone right you must be ready for everything to fail at an important moment. If you do not then you will be caught in a compromising position and will have to eat heavy losses. Failing for this reason can set you back and even permanently take you out of an endeavor as you may miss a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Be prepared and before you set out write checklists. Consider every possible thing that can go wrong and insure yourself against them by having back-up plans. Whether these are physical items, people, or simply scheduling you must ensure your efforts are successful and the best way to do that is to shift the odds in your favor by planning for when things go wrong. Like a professional gambler you must realize that bad swings are inevitable and you have to be prepared by having a back-up plan. Luck has a way of favoring you when you are prepared and you can avoid bad luck by countering it with preparation.
The Eight of Spades has been very favorable for me early in my journey with the cards. We have since moved on from one another but always love to come together for the game at hand.
You will find that it comes to you in times of need but do not push your luck too far.
