Be a Cheerful Friend:
Eliminate the gloom. Drop all hard luck rehearsals. Keep trouble to yourself. Be abounding in joy. Let your heart and mind be glad. Mean it. Train yourself free from negatives. Be a beacon of cheer in the dark. Be brave and hopeful even when there seems no chance or hope. Let your words be warm and optimistic. Keep it up.

Be a Helpful Friend:
Be strong and quick to do things that help. Be alert to opportunity. Be foresighted. Use your wit and good sense. Keep depressing and opposing forces warded off. Be broad minded and slow to judge. Be wary of giving advice, but when you do, be practical and use common sense. Never boast, but boost. Do not try to discipline your friends, better lead the way to new realities. Defend your friend and stand by him.
When your friend is in need,

Be a Loving Friend:
Stick with loyal love till death. Changing friends will not help you, for you still have your unchanged self. When you love a friend put heart and meaning into it. Have an objective for the love you express. Do not play with the affections of your friendship. Think and put into action new ideas. Let your friendship have depth, breadth, and height. Think of larger, finer, nobler and grander things to enrich and enfold your friendship. Do this and you will be sought for and loved as a friend.

Be a Courageous Friend:
How superb it is to stand by your friend. Fight it out together. Be brave and enduring. Never quit your friend in fear that your name or reputation will be injured. If your friend chooses the path to tell, use your faith, courage, brains and wits to turn him back, but do not quit until the gates close, shutting him in and you out.

Be a Faithful Friend:
The same today, tomorrow and forever. Be dependable. Let your loyalty be real, the same in the dark as in the light. Remain unchanged in your attitude toward your friend in the face of all adversities. Never be suspicious, doubtful, or questioning. Better to be deceived twenty times than wrongly suspicious once. Do these things and your life will be radiant with golden friendship.
