The springtime of life gives us energy and the vitality of our youth can make us arrogant. As you mature we see the hypocrisy and the brokenness of the old ways that have been transmitted down to us and we see their shortcomings. We feel as though we know better and we can do better if only given a chance and we have not yet tasted the friction of the world against our higher ideals. In this state it is easy to think that we can simply throw away tradition and topple the kings as they are of a decaying and dying empire.
LISTEN
The King has wisdom he wishes to pass down to you.
Will you receive it?
The King of Hearts is a calm and loving voice who steadies our hand and lowers the temperature of our blood. It tells us that we still have much to learn and although life will teach us everything we need to know, it would serve us well to listen to an older man.
Overcome your arrogance and pride and
listen to one who has been through it all before.
The ones who came before you know where you are coming from as they were once there themselves. They understand the world is changing and they want to help you in the way that they can, by transmitting their wisdom to you.
Accept it.
This does not mean that you must obey or agree with everything they say but that you allow yourself to interface with them with a spirit of openness. Let go of your pride as it does not serve you and is a folly in and of itself. Open your heart and receive the wisdom as it is transmitted to you.
It may take you years, even decades to understand and appreciate it. One day you will be grateful that you took the time to listen to your elders. One day you will be old and the youth will think you are foolish and rigid, they will discount your experience and wisdom and you will want to help and guide them out of the love and compassion that is in your heart.
