The Illusions Festival Blows Out Its Second Candle
The second edition of the Châlons-en-Champagne magic festival takes place until the end of the week at La Comète. As visual as it is sound, this festival aims to address both children and adults.

Have magic shows found a second wind? In any case, this is what Philippe Bachman, the director of the La Comète hall, which hosts the Illusions festival for the second year, thinks. After the circus and the puppets, the magic would have the wind in its sails, according to the Châlonais, carried by young talents like the Alsatian Alix Bècle specialist of the close-up, at just 20 years old.
If the visual impact is always put forward, thanks in particular to the performances of Mahdi Gilbert, a Canadian magician who has the distinction of being born without hands. "He had to invent his own magic routines. And it's quite exceptional, since he tells about his destiny, his will and he gives magic an extraordinary meaning. He's a real virtuoso" specifies Philippe Bachman, this edition also gives pride of place to sounds. Two shows, Nights Songs, by singer Yaël Naim and Les Murmures ont les ore, by Compagnie Le Phalène, will titillate your hearing and try to blur your bearings.
The discipline is undergoing a revival "We must forget the image of the old man magician who pulls a rabbit out of a hat. The Internet has made it possible to develop new magic techniques, because people exchange things in this way, practice a lot. It is a very young discipline and in full revolution. " confirms the director of La Comète.
During the festival, training is also offered to professionals around an innovative device offered for a year by the National Center for Circus Arts (CNAC). Called "the black box", it is a real research laboratory in the world of new magic, allowing work on sound illusions or holograms. The Châlons school, which has been offering training in magic since 2006, is even in discussions with the University of Reims Champagne Ardennes to offer a university degree in new magic.

La deuxième édition du festival de magie de Châlons-en-Champagne prend ses quartiers jusqu'à la fin de la semaine à la Comète. Aussi visuel que sonore, ce festival souhaite s'adresser autant aux enfants qu'aux adultes.

Les spectacles de magie auraient-ils trouvé un deuxième souffle ? C'est en tout cas ce que pense Philippe Bachman, le directeur de la salle La Comète qui accueille pour la deuxième année le festival Illusions. Après le cirque et les marionnettes, la magie aurait le vent en poupe, selon le Châlonais, portée par de jeunes talents comme l'Alsacienne Alix Bècle spécialiste du close-up, à tout juste 20 ans.
Si l'impact visuel est toujours mis en avant, grâce notamment aux performances de Mahdi Gilbert, un magicien canadien qui a la particularité d'être né sans main. " Il a dû inventer ses propres routines de magie. Et c'est assez exceptionnel, puisqu'il raconte son destin, sa volonté et il donne à la magie un sens extraordinaire. C'est un vrai virtuose" précise Philippe Bachman, cette édition fait également la part belle aux sons. Deux spectacles, Nights Songs, de la chanteuse Yaël Naim et les Murmures ont des oreilles, de la Compagnie Le Phalène, vont titiller votre ouïe et tenter de brouiller vos repères.
La discipline est en plein renouveau "Il faut oublier l'image du vieux magicien qui sort un lapin d'un chapeau. Internet a permis de développer de nouvelles techniques de magie, parce que les gens s'échangent des trucs de cette manière, pratiquent énormément. C'est une discipline toute jeune et en pleine révolution." confirme le directeur de La Comète.
Pendant le festival, une formation est également proposée aux professionnels autour d'un dispositif innovant proposé depuis un an par le Centre National des Arts du Cirque (CNAC). Appelé "la boîte noire", il s'agit d'un véritable laboratoire de recherches dans l'univers de la magie nouvelle, permettant travailler sur les illusions sonores ou les hologrammes. L'école de Châlons, qui propose des formations à la magie depuis 2006, est même en discussion avec l’Université de Reims Champagne Ardennes pour proposer un diplôme universitaire en magie nouvelle.
